Our annual conference
The Energy Saxony Summit is a conference designed to bring together stakeholders in Saxony’s energy sector. In addition to keynote speeches from the worlds of business, academia, and politics, it features forward-looking technical presentations and an accompanying corporate exhibition. At this annual event, participants discuss trending topics and showcase innovative technological solutions and services that can help successfully shape the energy transition and the shift toward a green economy.

10. Energy Saxony Summit
The 10th Energy Saxony Summit, held on April 29, 2026, brought together energy producers, grid operators, storage providers, and industry representatives, uniting perspectives that had previously often been discussed in isolation. Participants enjoyed insightful presentations, hands-on workshops, an industry exhibition, and exclusive insights during a company tour and plant visit.
9. Energy Saxony Summit
The ninth Energy Saxony Summit, held on October 24, focused entirely on sustainable heat supply—a key issue that poses immense challenges for both businesses and building owners alike. The question of how to provide heat efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner is becoming increasingly important in light of rising energy prices and stricter climate targets. Many businesses and residential buildings have significant potential for efficiency gains that can be realized through innovative technologies and smart solutions.
8. Energy Saxony SUmmit
At the 8th ENERGY SAXONY SUMMIT on June 22, 2023 in the Alte Mensa in Freiberg, around 100 representatives from business, science and politics came together to exchange views on current research results and practical experience reports on the efficient use of battery and hydrogen energy storage and to network. Applications, production and recycling processes for battery technology and projects for the use of hydrogen as an energy storage medium were presented as part of the lecture program, in an accompanying exhibition and in guided practical tours. Both technologies were put to the test in terms of their practicality and sustainability.
7. Energy Saxony Summit
The 7th ENERGY SAXONY SUMMIT on 2 June 2022 at the Börse an der Messe Dresden focused on decarbonization and the circular economy. The lecture program and the accompanying virtual permanent exhibition provided a good overview of Saxon research players, technology and service providers whose innovative solutions can help shape the transition to an economy geared towards sustainability, climate and environmental protection.
6. Energy Saxony Summit
The future belongs to smart neighborhoods. The intelligent coupling of the electricity, heating and mobility sectors at district level enables the control and optimization of energy flows. This saves resources, increases efficiency and reduces emissions. At the virtual ENERGY SAXONY SUMMIT 2020 on 12 November, experts presented outstanding lighthouse projects as well as technology and service offerings that can be used to realize intelligently controlled districts. The event concluded with a political panel discussion on the topic of “Economic stimulus package – decarbonization as an economic driver?”.
5. Energy Saxony Summit
Green hydrogen is seen as the energy source of the future. In Dresden, the synthesis gas is now also available for refueling zero-emission hydrogen vehicles (TOTAL filling station, Wiener Str. 39). On September 18, 2018, experts from industry, science and politics discussed the many other possible applications of hydrogen and fuel cell technology in a digital energy system with coupled sectors at the 4th Energy Saxony Annual Conference at the International Congress Center Dresden.

How can innovative business models contribute to the economic viability of climate-friendly technologies? At the 5th ENERGY SAXONY SUMMIT with the main theme “Energy-COMMERCE: Market opportunities in the new energy system”, around 80 players from industry and research came together in the Salles de Pologne in Leipzig to discuss how money can be earned with new technologies and business models today and on the way to an energy supply from 100% renewable sources and how regulatory framework conditions could improve the economic viability of the concepts.
3. Energy Saxony Summit
The automotive and energy industries are facing major changes. On September 18, 2017, around 180 experts from industry, science and politics discussed how the digital coupling of both sectors can be used as an opportunity at the 3rd Energy Saxony Annual Conference at Volkswagen’s Transparent Factory in Dresden. Under the theme “Thinking Energy Ahead – Mobile. Smart. Innovative.”, the event explored the convergence of energy and transportation systems through digital connectivity, using concrete real-world examples from industry and research.
2. Energy Saxony Summit
At the 2nd ENERGY SAXONY SUMMIT on September 27, 2016, around 150 energy experts from business, science and politics discussed the opportunities of ‘smart’ connectivity for the electricity and heating grids of the future at the International Congress Center Dresden. In the two specialist forums “Energy supply of the future: smart and decentralized” and “Flexible energy use: a prerequisite for the success of the energy transition”, technologies were presented that can be used to make the energy supply digital, flexible, affordable and climate-neutral.
1. Energy Saxony Summit
The 1st ENERGY SAXONY SUMMIT kicked off on June 24, 2015 at the German Hygiene Museum in Dresden under the motto “Energy technology you can touch”. At the network meeting, the efficiency of research and production of the players in the energy industry based in Saxony was demonstrated. TESLA offered test drives in the Model S, Fuel Cell Energy Solutions presented the world’s longest fuel cell stack and the ILK Dresden provided refreshments in a special way. The patron of the 1st annual conference of Energy Saxony e.V. was the Saxon State Minister for Economic Affairs, Labor and Transport, Martin Dulig.
