Energy and hydrogen alliance in the Meissen industrial arc (EWI)
The transition to carbon neutrality and changes in the energy market pose significant challenges, particularly for energy-intensive companies. Eight companies from the Meissen district have joined forces in the Energy and Hydrogen Alliance in the Meissen Industrial Corridor (EWI) to work together toward creating the conditions necessary for a successful energy transition in the region.
The EWI is an integral part of the local energy transition. By collaborating with the district administration and speaking with one voice to policymakers and utility companies, the goal is to ensure the necessary coordination of the transition processes.
The EWI member companies appoint spokespersons from among their ranks. New spokespersons are appointed on a regular basis. The alliance began with Dr. Matreux of Wacker and Mr. Reinecke of ESF serving as spokespersons. They were succeeded by Mr. Hesse of Kronospan and Mr. Spandler of Ervin. The current spokespersons are Dr. Matreux of Wacker and Mr. Spandler of Ervin.
Energy Saxony supports EWI stakeholders in their energy transition efforts as part of the “Hydrogen State Saxony” innovation cluster, which is funded by the Free State of Saxony.
