LITHIUM MINING IN THE ORE MOUNTAINS

Zinnwald Lithium GmbH, based in Freiberg/Saxony, is a subsidiary of Zinnwald Lithium plc. The company’s project is to prepare a feasibility study on the economic viability of mining and processing the lithium mineral “Zinnwaldit” – named after the mining town of Zinnwald – for the production of lithium hydroxide monohydrate.

Lithium hydroxide monohydrate is an important starting product for the production of lithium-ion batteries, the high-performance rechargeable batteries in cell phones and laptops, and is also crucial for mobile energy in the electric and hybrid cars of the future. Lithium-ion batteries are also storage systems for renewable energies – pioneering and exemplary for innovative technology.
