The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS is one of the world’s leading research institutes for microelectronic and information technology systems and services. Scientists at the Institute for the Development of Adaptive Systems EAS in Dresden are working specifically on the efficient realization of intelligent systems. In addition to functionally safe and reliable system and circuit design, new approaches to sensor technology, the analysis of large amounts of data and the intelligent control of automation processes are among the main areas of work. Adaptive and robust technological solutions are developed in line with the current and future requirements of the economy.

ENERGY MANAGEMENT FOR BUILDINGS AND INDUSTRY

Stricter requirements regarding climate protection and rising energy prices are increasingly presenting energy and facility managers in various sectors with major challenges. Energy consumption is a major cost factor, especially for industrial companies with energy-intensive production processes, companies with large properties and retailers with a large network of stores. In order to meet these challenges, innovative and industry-oriented concepts for the planning and CO2-optimized operation of production facilities and technical building equipment are needed.

Fraunhofer IIS/EAS offers a wide range of services to support efficient energy management – from the recording and analysis of relevant data to the optimization of existing systems and the development of self-learning, integrated energy management systems. Customized monitoring systems that automatically alert you if there is a deterioration in the efficiency of the overall system can reduce both operating costs and CO2 emissions. By linking mathematical-physical models and data-based approaches, Fraunhofer IIS/EAS optimizes the operating and control strategies of your energy consumers, generators and storage systems, taking into account weather forecasts or variable energy costs.

In its own climate chamber, Fraunhofer IIS/EAS also offers the possibility of testing and optimally adjusting small heating/air-conditioning systems in conjunction with virtual house simulations (hardware-in-the-loop simulation).
