SUSTAINABILITY, CLIMATE PROTECTION AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY THROUGH INTEGRATED INTEGRATED PRODUCTION
Wacker Chemie wants to contribute to the ecological transformation of the economy and society and supports the goal of greenhouse neutrality. Accordingly, the topics of climate protection and circular economy are given high priority. Integrated composite production is a clever principle that reduces energy and resource consumption and integrates environmental protection into the production process. At the large production sites in Burghausen, Nünchritz and Zhangjiagang, for example, the by-products from one production step are used as raw materials for other products. The required auxiliary materials move in a closed cycle and the waste heat is used for further chemical processes. In addition, the company’s own processes are continuously optimized for maximum material utilization and energy efficiency. Wacker has also set itself the target of reducing absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030.
PARTICIPATION IN THE “WASSERSTOFFLAND SACHSEN” INNOVATION CLUSTER
By using green hydrogen – whether as an energy source, as a raw material or as a reducing agent – Wacker Nünchritz aims to accelerate the transformation to a decarbonized production site in the Riesa/Meißen economic region. Since 01.05.2022, the company has been actively shaping hydrogen issues in the “Industriebogen Meißen” region as a member of the “Wasserstoffland Sachsen” innovation cluster.
