ONTRAS operates the 7,700-kilometer long-distance pipeline network in eastern Germany and is responsible for the reliable and efficient transport of gaseous energy – today and in the future. The transmission system operator is actively shaping the energy market of the future, contributing ideas and developing sustainable solutions for the gas infrastructure. ONTRAS relies on reliable technology, many years of experience and a dedicated team.
The long-distance gas network is compatible with renewable gases and therefore also supports a wide range of applications for hydrogen, such as material applications, mobility and heat. In order to make the infrastructure fit for a renewable gas supply, ONTRAS is planning and implementing numerous projects, for example the H2 starter network for eastern Germany comprising over 900 km of pipelines as part of the European Hydrogen Backbone.
