The gas networks have a total length of around 7,000 kilometers and cover parts of the federal states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Brandenburg.
In order to ensure a high level of quality in network operation, MITNETZ GAS is regularly certified by independent third parties such as TÜV SÜD in accordance with international standards.
MITNETZ GAS CONDUCTS RESEARCH IN THE HYPOS:H2-NETZ HYDROGEN PROJECT
For MITNETZ GAS, the future technology of hydrogen has been firmly on the agenda for several years. The association HYPOS (Hydrogen Power Storage & Solutions) East Germany e. V. has been working on the development of a model region for green hydrogen in central and eastern Germany since 2013. MITNETZ GAS is one of over 100 companies and institutions that are pooling their expertise from practice and research here.
MITNETZ GAS is currently involved in the “HYPOS:H2 grid” project, which will run until the end of 2021. In May 2019, MITNETZ GAS inaugurated the “hydrogen village” at the Bitterfeld-Wolfen Chemical Park as part of the project. Together with its partners, the distribution system operator is demonstrating what is feasible in the field of hydrogen distribution. The aim is to evaluate energy sources and infrastructure technically, economically and ecologically in a real test field.
