THE GERMAN BIOMASS RESEARCH CENTER CONDUCTS APPLIED RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ON THE INTEGRATED USE OF BIOMASS FOR ENERGY AND MATERIALS.
We work as a central and independent thought leader on the question of how the limited biomass resources available can contribute sustainably and with maximum efficiency to the existing and future energy system and the bio-based economy. Our research identifies, develops, accompanies, evaluates and demonstrates innovative fields of application for biomass, taking particular account of its economic efficiency and environmental compatibility. We thus generate knowledge about the possibilities and limits of the integrated use of bio-based raw materials and, above all, residual/waste materials in a bioeconomy and a renewable energy system and contribute to securing Germany’s outstanding position as an industrial location in the long term.
