KH2
Saxon Hydrogen Competence Center
Hydrogen as an energy carrier has the potential to store and transport energy in an environmentally friendly way and to make it usable in all sectors. With its high energy density and the ability to produce only water as a waste product during combustion, it offers a promising alternative to fossil fuels and will make a significant contribution to decarbonization. In this growing sector, there are numerous opportunities for companies to actively participate and open up new fields of application in the area of hydrogen as a sustainable energy source.
Objective of the Saxon Hydrogen Competence Center
The Saxon Hydrogen Competence Center “KH2” is the central point of contact for citizens, local authorities, the media, industry and science for all questions relating to hydrogen production, transport, storage and use. The tasks include:
- Answer general questions about hydrogen
- Creating awareness and acceptance for hydrogen
- Information and advice for industry, science and research on all hydrogen-specific issues and funding opportunities
Saxony’s objective with regard to hydrogen
The aim is to establish a hydrogen economy along the entire value chain in Saxony, to further expand Saxony’s strengths in the areas of research and development as well as mechanical and plant engineering and the existing infrastructure and thus make a contribution to achieving the important climate targets. Saxony is to become a leading location for industrialized hydrogen technologies and thus secure jobs, generate added value and promote climate protection – ecology and economy go hand in hand in the Free State of Saxony.
