Schmiedewerke Gröditz GmbH supplies its customers worldwide with open-die forgings and ring-rolled products, which can be mechanically pre-machined or finished according to customer specifications. These are components for rail-bound vehicles and components for the energy machinery sector, including the power generation sector. Renewable energies (e.g. hydropower, wind power, etc.).

PARTICIPATION IN THE “WASSERSTOFFLAND SACHSEN” INNOVATION CLUSTER

With the use of green hydrogen, Schmiedewerke Gröditz GmbH wants to contribute to the transformation of the Riesa/Meißen economic region into a decarbonized production location. Since July 2022, the company has been actively shaping hydrogen issues in the “Industriebogen Meißen” region as a member of the “Wasserstoffland Sachsen” innovation cluster.

GREEN STEEL makes GMH Gruppe‘s products more sustainable – thanks to climate-friendly production processes, even today:
Every tonne of crude steel from GMH Gruppe’s electric furnace produces 80% less CO2 emissions than comparable steel from integrated smelters. The forging plants use 100 % scrap as a raw material. The value stream saves emissions thanks to climate-friendly logistics. New sustainable measures and innovative products are constantly being added. The company has drawn up a clear, realistic roadmap for how low-emission steel can be produced in a completely climate-neutral way by 2039.
