ThinkTank

Think tank for the green transformation of the economy

We offer ThinkTank clients organized technology and funding consulting as well as networking with experts from science and industry and centrally coordinated project implementation. We call the ThinkTank a “think tank” because of the joint realization of new ideas and progressive visions.
The Energy Saxony ThinkTank brings together experts from science and business to develop solutions for the green transformation of the economy for grid operators and customers from industry, the real estate sector, energy supply, municipal administration and agriculture in joint project work based on the principles of sustainability, resource efficiency and climate protection. The overarching objective is to secure an affordable and sustainable energy supply as the basis for a strong, internationally competitive Saxon economy, the reduction of emissions and resource consumption as well as a new product design and conversion of value chains according to the principle of the circular economy in specific applications. In order to better harmonize supply and demand and thus leverage cost-saving potential and create synergies, the potential of digitalization for the intelligent control of energy and material flows is also to be leveraged.

Decarbonization

Decarbonization

Not only energy-intensive production companies, but also small and medium-sized enterprises as a whole will become key players in the success of the energy transition by covering their own energy requirements with electricity generated from renewable sources at their own production sites and at the same time helping to balance out volatile electricity feed-ins by making loads more flexible. Industrial consumers will thus become independent of fossil fuels and can contribute to ensuring grid stability in the new energy system.

Resource and energy efficiency

Resource and energy efficiency

The global rise in demand for energy and raw materials and the associated price increases also require a more efficient use of resources and increased productivity to ensure international competitiveness. This can be achieved through the use of technology and the merger of companies to form symbiotic alliances. Ideally, the waste generated in the production process and surplus energy (electricity, heat, cooling) can then be used as a resource by other industrial companies at low cost.

Digitization

Digitization

Digitization enables intelligent linking and joint control/regulation of decentralized electrical energy supply systems via smart grids, from production processes (production technology, production and building infrastructure) to entire supply and value chains of an industrial company. In addition, digital solutions and IoT applications can be used to record real-time data on energy and material flows and actively use this data to optimize energy use and costs (load management).

Aims of the ThinkTank

Our ThinkTank sees itself as an open think tank in which all stakeholders can contribute ideas and proposed solutions. The existing networking of Energy Saxony e.V. with other clusters such as Biosaxony e. V., Silicon Saxony e. V., buildingSMART Deutschland e. V., Cluster IT-Mitteldeutschland e. V., VEE Sachsen e. V., Smart Systems Hub, VEMASinnovativ or the BDEW (overview of our partners) also enables the option of incorporating cross-industry expertise in the solution of specific technical problems. All full members of Energy Saxony e.V. can make use of the ThinkTank’s services as customers. The organization of the ThinkTank process is financed by the membership fee.
Realize visions of a sustainable future with the ThinkTank!
In our ThinkTank, we discuss the measures to be taken in your company to increase energy and resource efficiency and reduce emissions, costs and waste holistically in a panel of experts from research and industry. We connect you with expert consultants, technology and service providers and identify suitable funding programs to finance your project. This takes place in a structured, efficient and centrally coordinated process in which we accompany you from the very beginning.

Break new ground now!

Do you have a task for the ThinkTank? Please send us an e-mail to thinktank@energy-saxony.net with a short presentation about your company and your objectives that are to be implemented with technological solutions. We look forward to your contributions!

Would you like to future-proof your production operation? Our experts from science and industry will show you how you can use technological solutions, digital innovations and cooperative approaches to significantly reduce your energy and resource consumption, emissions and waste, and therefore also your costs. Register for a free consultation.
Mark Richter, Business Unit Manager Climate Neutral Factory Operation at the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology IWU in Chemnitz and head of the Energy Efficient Production working group, will be happy to advise you personally on the individual options for implementing and optimizing sustainable energy supply systems and circular economy concepts at your production site. We will be happy to contact you personally after your registration.

Why everyone wins at the Energy Saxony ThinkTank

By working together to find solutions, developments can be driven forward for the benefit of society and questions about the future can be answered. Our cluster service creates win-win situations for all stakeholders involved, resulting in positive income effects.

Development of sustainable regional value chains

By helping companies to organize their energy and material flows more efficiently and increasingly in line with the principles of the circular economy, while increasingly integrating renewable energies, more sustainable regional value chains are being created for the simultaneous benefit of the environment and the economy.
By helping companies to organize their energy and material flows more efficiently and increasingly in line with the principles of the circular economy, while increasingly integrating renewable energies, more sustainable regional value chains are being created for the simultaneous benefit of the environment and the economy.

For small and medium-sized industrial companies in particular, the service offers valuable assistance in raising funds to implement technological innovations to reduce their energy consumption, emissions and resource consumption.

Science transfer

The involvement of scientific stakeholders contributes to the transfer of science into concrete economic applications. Researchers are given the opportunity to test and optimize their developments in a practical environment.
