WE ARE SHAPING THE CLIMATE-NEUTRAL ENERGY SYSTEMS OF THE FUTURE.<\/h4>\n\n

The Fraunhofer Research Institution for Energy Infrastructures and Geothermal Energy IEG conducts research at seven locations in the fields of integrated energy infrastructures, geothermal energy and sector coupling for a successful energy transition. We develop ideas, technologies and strategies for the next phase of the transformation of energy systems and see ourselves as an independent thought leader for politics, business, regulation and society. By founding the Fraunhofer IEG, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is making a significant contribution to developing the markets for the application of geothermal energy systems, the storage of energy sources and technologies for coupling the energy sectors of heat, electricity and transportation in an even more targeted manner.<\/p>\n\n

Our expertise in the field of energy research is based on the synergy of our employees’ technical, scientific and economic knowledge.<\/p>\n\n

In our work, we not only apply a wide range of advanced scientific methods and models based on our extensive experimental laboratory and test infrastructure<\/a>, but also continuously develop these further using the findings from the research projects we carry out.<\/p>\n\n

The main topics<\/a> are hydrogen, energy infrastructures and sector coupling, heat mining and storage, borehole technologies, georesources and the development of the necessary technology modules, energy technology andCO2 capture<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n
